Room of the Month – November 2016
John & Diane, Courtice
John and Diane came to me to update their kitchen, afraid of making wrong choices, and overwhelmed with what to pick.
Sensational Solutions:
John & Diane appreciated my help and vision to see what they could not, thinking outside the box for style, colour and details. Allowing me to be the project manager in coordinating all the details of selections, ordering and schedules, they have been so amazing to work with. They were flexible during the process, and John has had a good knowledge and understanding of what a renovation consists of.
Here’s what we did: The layout of the kitchen worked for John & Diane, so replacing the cabinetry was not necessary. We first debated about painting or refinishing the cabinets. They loved the warmth of the oak cabinets and could not believe the difference the Refinishing made – they now shine again. The Counter Top was a huge decision, and loved the selection from Cambria, adding a bit of bling and a huge statement to the kitchen. Diane Loves her new Sink and Faucet, a space for both small and large pan washing. A new Wood Valance and Under Cabinet Lighting shows off the Subway Backsplash Tiles. The Accent Glass Mosaic Tiles gives the kitchen a warm character, and we picked up that same textured glass look in the Post-Style Fabric Custom Drapery Panels. The Upholstered Cornice Box in the deep grey fabric ties the two areas of the kitchen together. John was a little concerned about the Dark Red Feature Painted Wall, but loves the completed look, with Top-Down-Bottom-Up HunterDouglas Duette Shades on the doors. Adding the valance and cornice makes the room appear larger, and gives the garden doors a grand-look, while providing maximum light and full privacy when needed. We could not do all this work to the kitchen and forget about the laundry room. It too, got new paint and a Whimsical Valance. Finally, a new Drop-Leak Oak Table & Chair is perfect for John & Diane, and accommodates guests when needed, while not cluttering the room.
The kitchen renovation has created a completely new look to their home, and we all have gained a wonderful friendship through this experience. They look forward to “serving up” great memories in their new kitchen.

“I love the new look. We now have an updated look and showpiece working kitchen. It has a warm, cozy look at night. We appreciate you getting us local and reliable contractors to get the job done. All nice people to have in our home. Wilma, I was glad you see the whole picture with just a small sample in front of you.” -Diane
