Room of the Month – May 2019

“The dining room and living room now have window treatments that compliment decor, colour choices and allow a lot of light to come through which is important to me” – Catharine Lawrence, Bowmanville
Sensational Solutions:
Why Wilma was called in:
Catharine has a beautiful century home and LOVES colour. Her decorating sense is fun and cheerful. Two rooms were in need of new drapery treatments: the Living Room and Dining Room. Her mother used to be a decorator as well and has been after Catharine for years to get new window treatments. Wilma had worked with Catharine’s friend and commented on the lovely drapery. She called Wilma to make an appointment for them to come to the Showroom to look at drapery fabric. When they arrived, she was impressed with the variety of styles and fabrics available. It also allowed her the opportunity to look at the workmanship of the drapery treatments.
The Sensational Solution:
Wilma and Catharine decided on a colourful floral linen fabric. She still wanted the light, but also desired privacy from the busy street and sidewalk. Creating valances and Operable Roman Shades covering the bottom half of the window for the Living Room was the perfect solution. It was decided to put fully operable Roman Shades in the Dining Room.
Going Forward:
The Living Room and Dining Room now have continuity. The elaborate window trims and moldings so typical of century homes were fully exposed for their beauty. Catharine is excited to have her home featured this month so her Mom, who lives far away, can see the new window treatments. What an honour to work with someone so knowledgeable about decorating and styles, and a pleasure for me to be creative in such an exquisite home, working with someone who is not afraid of colour!
