Wow, this bedroom was very dark and had fabric from the 1980’s. It was great back then, when shift work meant a dark room to sleep in, but this room sure needed some brightening up now that retirement is a reality. The Upholstered Cornice Box was still a favourite item, but everything else needed an update. - The Sensational Solution:
With the black, red and gold cabinet as inspiration, Wilma came up with ideas to lighten the space. A light grey paint colour was suggested for the walls with a darker accent back wall, white paint for the trim and doors, and chalk paint technique for the bed and dresser. The homeowner added a skylight and two narrow windows - all of these solutions added beautiful light to the room. The Cornice Box was shortened and reupholstered, adding black accents and grey and black striped fabric. White embroidered side panels adorned the New Remote Control Silhouettes in a Semi-Sheer fabric, as privacy on this property was not an issue. Sensational SEAMS made an outstanding custom headboard from wood milled off the client’s property, adding height and dimension to the room. Shams and a Simple Throw help in making the bed easy to do. Custom Painting of the old waterbed frame and dresser makes a great statement in the room. Unique display of decor and artwork create this a One-of-a-Kind room to be enjoyed for many years. - Going Forward:
