Sensational Solutions:
This month we are featuring the second floor of a beautiful custom-built home, that has too many rooms to squeeze into one month. So enjoy the photos of the Master Bedroom & Ensuite, and one guest bedroom, and stay tuned for other great rooms to be featured soon. Enjoy as Catherine tells you their story:
- Why Wilma was called in:
“Several years ago, when Steve and I first moved into our house, we had no window coverings whatsoever. The master bedroom had a lot of windows and let it so much light, which was nice, but there was absolutely no privacy, We needed those windows covered immediately! Steve got in touch with a local design company and through them, we were first introduced to Sensational SEAMS. We were really pleased with the window coverings we'd had installed when the house was first built. When we were finally ready to finish off the rest of the upstairs bedrooms, it just made sense to get in touch with Sensational SEAMS. We'd already worked with them in the past and knew they did a fantastic job. There was no need to reach out to anyone else.” - The Sensational Solution:
“The most challenging area in our home was our master bedroom. It was a BIG room with a lot of windows. It was also oddly shaped, so it made decorating really difficult. Everything in the room was so spread out and far away from each other that even despite the furniture, it just felt and looked unfinished. It seemed cold and sterile and nothing really flowed together. I can't say that anything exciting happened that made us decide to call Sensational SEAMS. It was more a case of us deciding that we couldn't hold off decorating forever. We kept talking about what we were going to do, or how we were going to finish off the house, but we never got around to doing anything. We finally just got tired of looking at the unfinished upstairs and decided to go for it. Sensational SEAMS provided so many creative ideas for our windows! We had four bedrooms and two bathrooms we wanted done, and each window treatment ended up being different and unique. No two rooms came out looking the same. We were so impressed at how Wilma and her team were able to pair together so many different fabrics and styles to match the existing colours and breathe new life into each room. Bedrooms that before we just called #1, #2, and #3, now have their own personalities.” - Going Forward:
“We were thrilled with the results once installation was complete. I remember looking at one room in particular and telling Wilma, "It looks like royalty is going to be sleeping here!" Steve and I had no idea how it was all going to come together in the end. As I said earlier, there were so many different fabrics and designs, it was hard to imagine how the finished product might look. But Wilma and her team did a fantastic job of pulling everything together. Steve and I love the new look. Sometimes we just go into the rooms, look at the windows and just say ‘Wow, these look so amazing!’ Window coverings aren't something that people tend to think about very often. They go in and out of style, and it's often one of the last things people worry about when they are decorating their homes...or at least it was for us. But when it's done right, it provides the perfect finishing touch to any room. I had no idea how bare our rooms looked before. Now that it's done, we finally feel like our home is finished.” - Words from Wilma
It was such a delight to work with Steve & Catherine. They knew they wanted something but didn’t know what. When I showed them the fabrics, sketches, styles and designs, they were very receptive to my ideas. We had originally selected neutral coloured blinds when they first move in that provided room darkening and privacy. Now, holding the fabrics in the rooms against the existing blinds, bedding and paint colours, helped to see the flow and reasoning for the window treatment selected. Installation day was so amazing, to see our ideas come to reality. Now they enjoy a renewed character and charm that this beautifully built custom home had to offer, with custom window treatments that make a statement in each room. I am so very grateful that Steve & Catherine trusted my ideas, and can enjoy the colours, textures and warmth that each room brings to their home. They can’t wait to have family and friends come in to see what they have done, and once again have guests come to stay. I look forward to featuring more of their guest rooms in a future “Room of the Month”.
